Summary

Encore Semi is growing our Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineering Center of Expertise and is seeking experienced FuSa Engineers to join our team.  While FuSa is a critical element in products for many market segments, Encore Semi CoE is focused primarily at collaborating with customers targeting Automotive silicon designs.  This team is led by an Industry expert and contributor to the ISO 26262 standard; and comprised of expert engineers that are working jointly with customers on next generation products.  Joining this team enables you to focus on all aspects of Safety Case development, Safety Assessment, and FuSa Life Cycle management for Automotive systems – for both HW and SW architecture and designs.  Join the Encore Semi FuSa Engineering team to be on the forefront of this exciting and fast-growing field.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks:

Members of Encore Semi FuSa CoE are responsible for collaborating on a variety of engineering services across all phases of the FuSa Life Cycle (from Functional/Technical Safety Concepts through Safety Confirmation Reviews) to create compliant ISO 26262 products.  Your participation starts from the FSR and TSR of IP / SOC / System through verification (and back-annotation to FMEDA) for next-gen products.  As part of your role, you'll work jointly with other team members to propose and analyze safety architecture and mechanisms, for both hardware and software architectures.  During the Safety Documentation phase you will collaborate with the customer teams to implement processes and procedures and document the design elements required for Safety Case development and certifications, as well as instilling in the customer teams a “Safety Culture”.

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.Sc. or BSEE/MSEE with 5+ years of relevant working experience in safety case development.
• Experience in conducting in-depth analysis of failure modes, and error detection and error reporting functionalities.  Also, prefer an experienced engineer with strong hardware, software and technical leadership skills.
• Worked in or with SOC development teams, preferably using ARM/AMBA architecture, with good understanding and have experience applying ASIL decomposition strategies to achieve safety goals.
• Experience in contributing to the development of functional safety architectures for the automotive market; working closely with teams to propose credible workarounds when required.
• Experience analyzing existing safety mechanisms with HW/SW design teams as well as proposing new mechanisms or strategies to either existing or new designs based on safety gap analysis.
• Strong understand of functional safety hardware systems/designs and experience with ISO 26262 (or other applicable safety standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304, ISO 60601, DO-254).
• Experience developing Safety Goals/Requirements for Semiconductor components; and working experience in safety analysis for IP / SOC / ECU / MCU; including completing FMEDA, FIT estimations, FTA and DFA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in putting methodologies in place to enable design team to contribute to the FuSa process required for documentation (safety case development) of safe designs – experience instilling a “safety culture” across a design organization.
• Experience with ANSYS Medini Analyze, or related Synopsys tools.
• Able to architect key capabilities necessary to enable optimal solutions -- applying hardware and software redundancy techniques to mitigate hardware and software faults.
