About the Team:
Join the growing Encore Semi Logic Design and Physical Design teams to collaborate with customers on the design of CPUs and CPU SOCs based on innovative new core architectures.  Joining the team, you will build on a background of CPU core development to bridge the logic design and physical design challenges for state-of-the-art implementations.  You will join a larger CPU core development team to deliver next generation computing cores.   
 
About the Project: 
As a member of the Logic Design and Physical Design teams for complex next-generation core CPU, you will work with microarchitecture and RTL descriptions to implement high speed digital logic for the various blocks of a CPU design for High Performance Computing applications. Some of the work will require insights into circuit design for standard cells and leaf cell design and datapath layout. If you have experience in CPU design and implementation, joining the Encore Semi Verification team could be a good match for you.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of industry experience with Logic Design spanning RTL through Physical implementation
  • Prior experience with logic design and pipeline architectures for CPU cores 
  • Execute on microarchitecture definition and RTL (VHDL) for various sections of the processor core pipeline
  • Experience with Logic Design, Circuit Design, and Structural Physical Design of high-speed digital logic blocks
  • Placement and planning of structured datapath logic cells and wire resources to meet area and timing constraints 
  • Synthesis of digital logic blocks, Static Timing convergence, and dynamic power convergence 
  • Experience with design tools, including logic synthesis, floorplanning, STA, and design closure 
  • Experience with Critical Path simulations 
  • Scripting expertise in an interpreted language (e.g. Perl, Python, TCL)  
Valued Qualifications:  
  • Understanding of CPU microarchitectures including ISAs, multi-core and multi-threaded designs, symmetric multi-processing and similar performance improvement techniques 
  • Prior experience with IBM design tools Einstimer, BooleDozer, etc.
  • Understanding of advanced fabrication processes and layout design rules  
Education Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor's, Electrical Engineering
  • Preferred: Master's, Electrical Engineering
